YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. -- Yakima County's getting a step closer to starting a pre-trial unit.

It's the system that will let low-level offenders out of jail. They'd still be supervised and monitored with electronic bracelets while waiting for trial. Judges support the system. The year-long pilot program will handle 50 to 60 inmates.
