SELAH, Wash. -- Selah Mayor John Gawlik announced this week that stormwater is becoming a big issue.

The federal government is issuing rules to states to put steps in place to insure stormwater is clean once dumped into the rivers.

It's to try to reduce oils from the road, construction debris and chemicals from mixing with the clean river water.

Agricultural nitrate from farm lands also adds to the growing concern.

The mayor said they’ve had problems with this in the past and plan to take action before this grows out of control.
