Police: 2 men abducted from funeral and assaulted

PROSSER POLICE NEWS RELEASE -- The Prosser Police Department responded to a report of a man with a gun at a local funeral.

Several calls made directly to the Police Department advised that a man believed to be a police officer arrested two men at the Prosser Cemetery with the help of another male.

While Sergeant Ed Blackburn was responding to the scene, he was flagged down by the suspect who was a passenger in a vehicle.

With the assistance of the Benton County Sheriff’s office, two men in handcuffs were located inside the suspect’s vehicle. The driver advised that a male in the vehicle identified as Rodolfo Hurtado, 26 of Prosser had pulled a gun on the two handcuffed men.

Hurtado requested that the driver assist him and take the two men to the local police department for questioning.

Upon further investigation, Hurtado was found to have no connection to law enforcement of any type. Hurtado was taken into custody on two counts of Kidnapping and two counts of Assault second degree.

Hurtado is currently being held at the Benton County Jail on a 72 hour investigative hold pending arraignment.
