No new firefighter
YAKIMA, Wash -- A new firefighter promised for Yakima is now on hold.
The interim city manager froze the job because there's no money to pay for it. However, city council approved the utility hike specifically to hire the firefighter. The problem is two unexpected firefighter retirements force the city to pay out a hundred-thousand dollars. The job will stay frozen until finances improve.
