New wine tasting room opens on Yakima's Track 29
YAKIMA, Wash. -- A new wine tasting room set up shop on Yakima's Track 29. St. Hilaire Cellars opened its doors just in time for this weekend's Red Wine and Chocolate event.
Owner Gary Jackson told KIMA he decided to open after the passage of initiative 11-83, which took the state out of the liquor business.
Jackson couldn't have a shop under the old law because he also owns three distributorships across the Northwest.
The new tasting room adds another attraction for tourists.
"We thought we'd put a wine tasting thing with something a little different than the other two and have something that's close within a few minutes of where they're staying at the hotels here," said Gary Jackson, owner of St. Hilaire Cellars.
Jackson's shop sells wine by the bottle, not the glass.
