YAKIMA, Wash. -- A new Yakima business is looking to do the shopping for you. The Yakima Grocery Girls can pick up things you forget or don't have time to get. And, they can be delivered to your front door.
"Can we say 10 to 15 minutes or less?” asked the Yakima Grocery Girls.
“Sure, I'll just run over here and come back," said customer Sabrina Haley.
Leave it to a momtrepreneur to come up with a business that does your grocery shopping for you.
"I have three small children and going to the grocery store has always been such a task," said Yakima Grocery Girls Owner Kate Loeb.
It's why Kate Loeb figured other people could benefit from a shopping service. The Yakima Grocery Girls are available at Wray's on 56th and Summitview Avenues.
You have three options with your order. You can choose curbside express. That's where you drive up with a list and come back to pick up your order. The second option is placing your order and scheduling a time for pick up. The last option is scheduling delivery right at your home.
"This is what I need,” said Sabrina. “Swing in, drive up, should be ready."
"I know that somebody hates doing it while we're enjoying doing it," said Yakima Grocery Girl employee Gabriela Ochoa.
There's four ways to submit your list: call it in, drop it off, send an email or order online.
Here's how it works online. You fill out your contact information then type in what you want to order. When you're done, hit submit.
The girls usually shop about an hour before pick up time. Food gets stored in a cold spot in the meantime.
Employees verify the order is correct.
The cost of your convenience varies from $5 to $20, plus 7% of your total grocery bill which still may save you in the end.
"When I go grocery shopping, I end up and down every aisle and picking up things that are not on my list," said Sabrina.
You can get groceries between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. every day. Right now, deliveries are limited to Yakima, but could expand in the future.
