SUNNYSIDE, Wash. -- A new program in Sunnyside for at-risk youth finished its first full week.

The program is called The Underground, and it's run out of Oasis Church in Sunnyside. It's designed to give kids a safe place to go after school - especially for kids that are at risk of joining gangs. There's a gang outreach worker and youth development specialist on site. Students think it's off to a good start.

"Just in case there's like kids out there and they don't know where to go or what do, so they don't like make wrong decisions or anything, they can always come out here and hang out with people and meet new people," said Carissa Juarez, a Sunnyside High School student. "It's pretty fun."

Teachers and administrators at the school can refer kids to the program.
