YAKIMA, Wash. -- Perry Tech said its students were finding jobs successfully. Last year, 86-percent of its students landed work after completing their program. Perry Tech has at least 45 students who went back to school after getting laid off. If you were let go from a local company that closed you could be eligible for help. These benefits helped pay for school and expenses.

"I was going to need to have some sort of degree of certificate in order to rise above minimum wage," said Catherine Vold.

YVCC reported more than 300 students enrolled in school for re-training after being laid off last year.
