More Yakima students enrolling in online classes
YAKIMA, Wash. -- More students were taking online classes through the Yakima School District. More than a hundred enrolled in January.

The program started for middle and high school students who preferred this to a classroom setting. Students we spoke with said it fit their work schedule and family obligations. Home visits could be made if students weren't logging into their online classes. Teachers were required to check the students' work once a week.

"I help take care of my brothers and sisters when my mom is at work and being able to just come and go and being able to do it at home especially if I'm behind here," said Lizbeth Fernandez.

The program had 24 students graduate last spring.
