YAKIMA, Wash. -- A 24-year-old man suspected of robbing a Yakima drug store at knifepoint was arrested Wednesday evening after a short chase.

Officers spotted John Wilson's vehicle around 8 p.m. at a mini-mart in Selah. When they tried to stop him, police say he led them on a pursuit down Yakima Canyon Road. The chase ended when Wilson crashed into a guardrail near milepost 5.

Police say Wilson went to the pharmacy counter at the Walgreens on Yakima Avenue around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday and pretended to buy some items before jumping the counter, holding out a knife and demanding OxyContin. That was locked up, so he grabbed other prescriptions and cigarettes and took off.

Wilson was treated for minor injuries after the chase. He was booked into the Yakima County Jail for first-degree robbery.
