Man accused of impersonating police officer on Hwy 395 arrested
FRANKLIN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE NEWS RELEASE -- Just after 11:30 p.m. last night, Franklin County Dispatchers received a report from a Connell resident who said they had just pulled over for another vehicle who’s driver was flashing their headlights. The caller pulled their vehicle over on State Route 395, near Mesa and were approached by a man who identified himself as a police officer. The man was not in a patrol vehicle or in uniform and did not provide law enforcement identification. The caller immediately reported the incident and the man drove away in his vehicle. Franklin County Deputies Rapp and Rogers located the vehicle described by the caller on Tuck Road, and contacted Jeffery S. Yates, of Eltopia. After talking with witnesses Yates was arrested and charged with Impersonating a Police Officer, possessing prescription drugs without a prescription, threatening a police officer and is under investigation for driving under the influence. A vehicle was taken as evidence during the investigation.
