Making a dangerous highway safer
WAPATO, Wash.-- Highway 97 is slated for a big construction project this spring. The state is using money from the gas tax to repave part of the highway. Work will be done from West Wapato Road to Lateral A. Transportation officials say it's necessary to address some dangerous stretches along the highway. It includes replacing a guardrail. The project should be done by late summer.
I seriously doubt it will make that stretch of highway safer. If anything it might cause people to go even faster than they do now. I have been injured in a wreck by the post office in Parker so I hope they not only fix the roads but maybe put in another stoplight at that intersection.
