YAKIMA, Wash.-- They were called "ashes to go." Saint Timothy's Episcopal Church made stops to busy spots around Yakima Wednesday, offering prayers and ashes for Ash Wednesday.

They spoke to people at Millennium Plaza, the bus station and also Franklin Park. One leader tells KIMA she was excited to get out of the church and meet people on the streets.

"The biggest thing of all is being out in the world," Lead Priest Anne Barton said. "It's not about being stuck inside a church building. That's just a piece of ministry. It's a location."

Ash Wednesday signifies the start of Lent in some religions, which ends with Easter Sunday.
