New LEDs saving Yakima money
YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima continued to install LEDs on street lights around the city. Crews were doing more of it this week. They're putting 40 LEDs on 40th Avenue between Fruitvale Boulevard and Powerhouse Road.

The city was changing the lights to save money on electricity. It's already saving ten-percent on the utility bill.

LEDs last longer and require less maintenance than older bulbs. They also help people see better at night.

"LED lights are very low draw so if it's more energy efficient, I'm all for it,” said Richard Stapp.

Yakima installed 300 LEDs so far.
