Kittitas County reassessing nearly 50 properties after Taylor Bridge fire damage

ELLENSBURG, Wash. -- Kittitas County is re-assessing the property values of dozens of homes after the Taylor Bridge Fire.

Almost 50 properties are being evaluated. State law allows for a value reduction in cases of fire damage. Changes could hurt property tax collections in Kittitas County.

We learned more homeowners are expected to come forward with damage.

"This is the first time since I've been here that we've had such a catastrophic fire. Ya know we have home fires that we deal with but never on this scale," said Kittitas County Assessor, Marsha Weynard.
