An irrigation ditch burnout that got out of control sparked a 30-acre brush fire east of Wapato Monday. No structures were directly threatened.
YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. -- A 30-acre brush fire Monday near Wapato was under control before it could reach any buildings.

Crews say it started around the lunch hour when an irrigation ditch burnout got out of control.

It started near the 1500 block of North Olden Way Road.

Only heavy brush and trees burned. No buildings were directly threatened.
