SEATTLE -- A snowboarder who struck a tree while skiing at Stevens Pass was airlifted to Seattle hospital on Tuesday.

Stevens Pass Ski Resort spokesman Chris Danforth said the snowboarder was in the Hagen Hill area when he crashed into a tree just after noon.

The injured man, who is in his 20s, was brought down off the slopes and flown to Harborview Medical Center where his current condition is not known.

Danforth said the man was snowboarding in a marked area on packed powder at the time of the accident.
