Illegal immigrant sentenced to 8 years in prison

YAKIMA, Wash. - An illegal immigrant will spend 8 years in prison for 42 counts of fraud. Roman Ceniceros Mora was charged with claiming to be a U.S. citizen and lying on a U.S. passport application.

Immigration previously deported Ceniceros Mora back to Mexico, according to the Department of Justice. He lived in the U.S. for several decades claiming to be born to a northwest Native American tribe.

Ceniceros Mora applied for a passport in a Yakima post office in May of 2010. While reviewing the application the Department of State determined he was using someone else's name to apply for the passport by checking with other government agencies.

He claimed he served in the U.S. Marine Corps but the Department of Justice determined that was not true.

A separate jury also ruled Ceniceros Mora was in the country illegally after the U.S. deported him.

After his prison time, Ceniceros Mora will serve three years of supervised release before he faces deportation. He was also ordered to pay $155,431.18 in restitution to the U.S. and Washington state.
