Homemade wind chimes decorate downtown Yakima
YAKIMA, Wash. -- A nice Valentine's Day surprise for Downtown Yakima: Homemade wind chimes are hanging from light posts courtesy of Allied Arts.

Third- and fourth-grade students in Naches made about 30 wind chimes out of donated bottles from Liberty Bottle Works. Each bottle is decorated with special messages for Valentine's Day. They're displayed around Yakima Avenue and Front Street.

Neighbors are enjoying the surprise.

"It's more fun," said Teresa Shervey, who lives in Yakima. "I instantly noticed it over there by the McDonald's, so I started looking at all the other posts to see if anybody else had them, and didn't notice them again until we parked. So, yeah, it was a lot of fun to come and look at each one of them and see what they look like."

There are about 450 bottles in all. They'll be up through Monday.
