High speed pursuit through Sunnyside leads to 3 arrests

SUNNYSIDE P.D. NEWS RELEASE -- Last night at 8:15 pm Sunnyside Police attempted to stop a vehicle on Cemetery Rd for a minor equipment violation. The vehicle failed to stop for the Officer and a pursuit began. The vehicle, a silver 2003 Suzuki Aerio, traveled north on Cemetery Rd to Van Belle Rd then to Scoon Rd then traveling to Independence Rd and finally traveling north on 241. Speeds were in excess of 100 MPH and the pursuit lasted approximately 8 miles. The pursuit ended at milepost 15 on SR 241 when the driver stopped the vehicle. Officers took all three occupants of the vehicle in custody. A small amount of marijuana and a marijuana pipe were found in the vehicle.

 
Further investigation discovered that the vehicle was stolen from Grandview. “The excellent team work between our agency and the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office allowed us to hold these individuals accountable for their actions,” commented Deputy Chief Phil Schenck.
