Habitat for Humanity building two new homes in Yakima
YAKIMA, Wash. -- Two Yakima families will soon get their wish for new homes.

Yakima Valley Habitat for Humanity will get $40,000 from the city to build two homes. One will go on S. 10th Street. The other on S. 16th Avenue.

Habitat will use part of the money to demolish the existing homes. The rest will go toward construction.

Each family will help build it physically and use an interest-free loan to pay for it. Imelda Torres is excited to move out of her apartment.

"Where we are now, we don't have a lot of space. And, in a house, we're going to have more space. And, the kids are going to have a place to play and more freedom."

Demolition of the properties is expected to begin this week.
