YAKIMA, Wash. -- The Action News Crime tracker is kept tabs on assault cases in Yakima. And we learned the news is both good and bad. That's because cases involving knives are way down while gun incidents are going up. Last year, 40 people were assaulted with a knife which was 13 fewer people than in 2011. At the same time, there were nearly 100 gun incidents in Yakima representing 10 more cases than the year before. Police said these incidents could happen anywhere at any time.
"I use my peripheral vision to see people and to watch for movements,” said Victoria Davis. “I carry my dog with me so I can feel more secure because he is protective."
Police said a case is considered an assault even if a victim isn't actually hit by a knife or gun.

that is not a factual statement if every citizen IS armed with a WEAPON CRIMINALS WOULD THINK TWICE ABOUT THERE CRIMES IN OUR COMMUNITY
Well, isn't that expected? The good guys, we who go through background checks, have been buying guns and ammo what, 100 to 1, of the bad guys? Gotta be dangerous for bad guys? They don't know it? I predict such crimes will continue to decrease.
