Last year's flooding still a problem for Kittitas County residents

KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. -- Major flooding last Spring in Kittitas County is still an issue for some people near creek.

Hanson road is closed to cars and down to one lane for residents only.

It's more than half-a-million dollars worth of damage that can't be fixed until Emergency Funding comes through from the state.

Kittitas County hopes to get the money within the month, but neighbors worry the past may repeat itself.

"People couldn't get up and down the road," said Kathy Keil who lives on Hanson Rd. "You couldn't get out of the house. Because the water was right up to the garage entrance, and that was really a bad thing."

Kittitas County officials say they are  prepared for any emergency. They still hope those in flood-prone areas have emergency supplies, just in case.
