TERRACE HEIGHTS, Wash. -- An explosion at a local recycling plant rocked Terrace Heights today. We felt it here at KIMA.

Fire officials say a lid blew off this empty fuel tank, when a Pacific Steel employee cut into its side with a blowtorch.

The tank was empty. But, the fire department says fumes coming off the tank's surface could have ignited.

Firefighters put out the fire in minutes. No one was hurt.

Pacific Steel plans to investigate the matter.
