YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. -- This month's election results are now official and the votes weren't there for a school bond in Highland. It fell short by only about 17 votes.

The Yakima County Auditor certified the results. Only about a third of ballots were submitted for the special election.

The Highland School District's bond was the only one to fail. Administrators wanted voters to approve an $8.5 million bond to renovate schools there.

Bonds for Naches and Sunnyside schools both passed.
