YAKIMA, Wash. -- Domestic Violence cases in Yakima was an increasing problem. Cases have gone up by nearly 400 in the last two years. In 2011, there were more than 1,731 cases and last year they topped 2,115. Yakima police told us they send out two cars to investigate these potential violence cases.

"You can attribute maybe some of it to an economic downturn. It brings a tremendous amount of stress to families when they're laid off from work," said Captain Rod Light.

YPD said if there was probable cause someone made an assault, it's required by law to arrest them.
