Dept. of Justice: We will still enforce Controlled Substances Act
The Department of Justice says their responsibility to enforce the Controlled Substances Act remains unchanged, despite state laws legalizing marijuana in Washington and Colorado.
STATEMENT FROM U.S. ATTORNEY’S OFFICE:
The Department of Justice is reviewing the legalization initiatives recently passed in Colorado and Washington State. The Department’s responsibility to enforce the Controlled Substances Act remains unchanged. Neither States nor the Executive branch can nullify a statute passed by Congress. In enacting the Controlled Substances Act, Congress determined that marijuana is a Schedule I controlled substance. Regardless of any changes in state law, including the change that will go into effect on December 6th in Washington State, growing, selling or possessing any amount of marijuana remains illegal under federal law. Members of the public are also advised to remember that it remains against federal law to bring any amount of marijuana onto federal property, including all federal buildings, national parks and forests, military installations, and courthouses.
They will be selling marijuana at liquor stores coming soon but I'm sure they are going to tax the crap out of it like they do alcohol, I mean this is what this really about isn't it making the government money/ Just saying!
S D is correct our federal government doesn't care what you vote on. Without the Feds there is no real legalization anyone with a real job can't smoke without fear of a drug test.
 @segesser The really nice part of it is that if the Federal government wants to go after marijuana users, they will pay for it (court costs, incarceration costs, etc). At least, we can rent some jail space to the Feds and make Yakima's budget look even brighter. its a win-win situation for Yakima.
 @segesser If they worked for a liberal company and smoked a very small amount maybe they could.  But where are they going to buy it anyway, that's not legal. The only dealers I see are the really disgusting, filthy creeps pushing it at the transit. They even have a guy in the office and they have it audio bugged. If you even talk about how flakey the whole thing is, someone comes running out to sniff you. The sniffing bit is what's really disgusting.
And if there is a DEA guy behind the Thai restaurant listening to kids and tourists buy a joint than he is either getting a cut from the $6000 the Republican owned treatment center that is also right there gets or there is only one other situation. And that situation is that he, like many others in Yakima has been compromised and is on film with an underage person who has been trained at the Union Gospel Mission youth center. Don' think it can happen? Just ask Dan Stadler.
P.S. The DEA is supposed to have a listening station right behind the Thai restaurant. If they are the ones involved with using hardcore drug addicts who are pushing pot on newbies at the transit I can just about guarantee you that if they keep pulling that stuff that the Department of Justice is not going to stand by them. Especially when they check the records and they find out that the setup people are drawing SSI. And if the super loser Nazi cops, the Millers try to do their illegal bust when the people get off the bus with their teenie, tiny joints, I don't think that's gonna work either. Or, the bigtime bust, when they have their meth freaks sell them a bag that is a hair over an ounce and the Millers move in to bust them for being a dealer, I don't see that going anywhere either.  We are becoming a town that is filling up with meth freaks, who are protected and who chase after good, working people who may have taken a puff or two. We have a pedophile running narcotics, that is the only reason for a haywire scheme. There is no other excuse. And the public is not aware of the felons pouring into WestValley. There's more and more and they're staying.
Sal King I suppose having hundreds of hard core addicts that the right has gotten SSI for and who must push pot on innocent kids and tourists doesn't bother you either. They also run people out of their homes so the rich on the right can pick them up cheap. I suppose it also doesn't bother you that the real estate records are then secret and you'll get run out of the court house if you insist your computer doesn't work. I suppose it also doesn't bother you that the head of narcotics doing all this moves in with innocent children when their parents get deported. You are on the wrong side, Sal, unless you approve of these activities. What about the Republican owned treatment center right by the transit that was caught with altered Google maps showing the place a great spa and for which tax payers fork over $6000- each time the hard core scumbags set someone up, not to mention the human trafficking that was also taking place. Don't bother calling me a tweaker, I can tell the difference between a high quality person and the scum of the earth. They are crawling all over the transit center trying to make people think it is legal to smoke pot in Yakima. They'll get their's soon, just like Memorial had to close down their mental operation where these creeps that work for the right got these people hauled off and Memorial was doing illegal competency hearings. I saw Costello move in with kids that were alone. I smoked a tiny bit of pot 15 years ago and the fat idiot got in my apartment and tried to bust me for being a dealer. I think someone ran him off. This is disgusting what is going on in Yakima. Most of the ones screaming they hate pot smokers are involved in a Corrections run child molestation ring. If you don't know that then you must have just fallen off the turnip truck, or pedophilia doesn't bother you much. To be pushing pot on kids and tourists is absolutely disgusting. And don't respond that you are some sort of bigshot. Or your buddy Dave either. I know, I know. You're imiportant and I'm supposed to be a big time loser who's not taking their medicine. Nobody cares about the right and their stupid lists, nobody except the right and the pedophiles.
