DUI patrols during holiday weekend ahead

YAKIMA, Wash. -- The 4th of July is right around the corner. While you may be getting ready to fire up the grill for a party, police officers and troopers are gearing up for DUI Patrols.
The 4th of July is one of the biggest nights of the year for drinking and driving.
Yakima police will be out Wednesday night looking for signs of drunk driving. However, police expect the following weekend to be even busier. They tell us there will be a DUI emphasis this Saturday.
"There's a lot of people out there that make a lot of mistakes on the 4th of July because there is a very easy tendency to do that," said Alec Cattarin. "So, I think it's a good idea to have a lot more cops out."
Washington State Patrol will also be out looking for drunk drivers both Wednesday and this weekend.
As always, you are encouraged to use a designated driver.
