Crisis response units train in Yakima

Crisis response units train in Yakima
YAKIMA, Wash. -- You might have seen the drills in Terrace Heights involving local crisis response units.

The team went through different scenarios in their yearly training. Those included hostage scenarios and officer down rescues.

The team was evaluated on their response. It's a time to see what type of training is needed.

"This is the ultimate lifesaving skills,” said Lt. Gary Jones, a Yakima Police CRU commander. “The idea is that we're protecting the people that need protection and best that we can, controlling high risk incidents using the least amount of force necessary. Unfortunately we do deal in a business that sometimes we have to use deadly force.”

The Yakima teams will train with Benton County teams next month.
