City wants to know which road projects you want done

YAKIMA, Wash. – Tuesday night, the Yakima City Council opened the floor to you to see which road repairs you want at the top of the list. KIMA talked with both neighbors and council who seem to at least agree on one thing - dozens of Yakima streets need some TLC.
At Tuesday’s meeting, the public was able to tell the council which road projects they want to see get done. The six year transportation improvement district is currently eyeing 52 projects, including an underpass at MLK blvd. We talked with neighbors who say they think there are dozens of areas in desperate need of attention. The council says, they want to hear about each of them.
"There are a lot of streets in the area that need fixing,” said Lynn Kittleson. “There are a lot of (rough) streets where they ride a bus they can find out which ones those are."
"This is the time for the public to come to council and say I think this needs to be on the plan, so we can seek money or when money becomes available through a grant or the state, we can put in to work,” said Mayor Micah Cawley.
Only one person spoke at the public hearing on Tuesday. If you missed your opportunity to address council, there will be another chance on June 19th at 3:00.
