Yakima City Council sets new rules for smoking & giving to panhandlers
YAKIMA, Wash. -- City Council voted Tuesday night to put a new smoking ban in effect here in Yakima.

Smoking will not be allowed at playgrounds or at special events throughout the city.

Violators will be fined starting at a hundred bucks.

Council also voted against the proposed giving meters, those refurbished parking meters with the goal of giving to charities as opposed to panhandlers.

It all came down to money. The meters cost 4-grand a pop.
