Cawley announces campaign for Yakima County Auditor
Yakima Mayor Micah Cawley officially launched his campaign for county auditor Tuesday morning at a news conference outside the Yakima County Courthouse.
YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima Mayor Micah Cawley kicked off his campaign for Yakima County Auditor Tuesday with a news conference outside the Yakima County Courthouse.

He was joined by mayors from around the Valley supporting his candidacy.

Cawley says he wants to increase voter registration and voter turnout in Yakima County.

"Frankly, Yakima County being the lowest in the state as far as voter turnout, that's tough for me as a young person involved who's voted in every, you know, major election since I've gotten registered to vote," Cawley said. "I want to show that energy with people and tell them why it's important to vote."

Cawley will square off against State Rep. Charles Ross of Naches, a fellow Republican, in the race to replace the retiring Corky Holloway.
