Cash for old wood burning stoves
ELLENSBURG, Wash. -- To help improve air quality this winter, the Department of Ecology held a cash back event in Ellensburg to collect wood burning stoves. Saturday morning, residents brought in their dirty old woodstoves in exchange for a $200 check. The best part about the event is that anyone can bring in a stove. There are no income qualifications and you can spend the money any way you like.

One participant said he's glad to get rid of the stove that's been sitting in his garage for the last four years.

"I think it's great. I don't think I could have sold it for craigslist for that...and it’s an old stove that doesn't burn very clean and it was unsafe," said Donald Tarbert.

DOE collected a total of 71 wood stoves, which will be sent to Seattle for recycling.
