Car theft case leads to shots fired
---YAKIMA POLICE NEWS RELEASE--- On April 7, 2012 at 1340hrs 911 received numerous phone calls stating there was a subject at the corner of 2nd Street and Pine Street shooting at people. When Yakima Police officers and a Yakima County Sheriff’s deputy arrived they found a male subject standing over the top of a female in the middle of south 2nd St. Officers later determined that an auto theft victim had located his recently stolen vehicle parked, with two subjects still inside, at the corner of 2nd St. and Pine St. When the victim confronted the male and female inside his car the male pulled out a knife and threatened the victim. The victim pulled out a pistol and, according to him, fired up in the air out of fear. The male suspect fled on foot while the female stayed and was subsequently arrested by police for theft of a motor vehicle. It was confirmed by police that the victim was in possession of a concealed pistol license.
