Businesses suing restaurant for negligence that led to fire
SUNNYSIDE, Wash. -- Several businesses filed a lawsuit after last year's destructive fire downtown. The fire destroyed two restaurants and damaged a few other spots.
Business owners are suing the people who ran the Safari Restaurant. They argue the Safari's owners were negligent.
"I know it's affected the community of course in Sunnyside," said Rosa Vazquez, a downtown business owner. "But, we can't let, you know, a fire stop us with continuing our businesses as they grow."
The lawsuit claims the Safari's owners left a stack of tires next to a gas line that fueled the fire.
