YAKIMA, Wash. -- West Valley is proud to say every single middle school student who took the math state standard also passed the test this year.

The district credits a new curriculum offering college credit classes for sophomores.

"If they're taking algebra as an 8th grader they can get to calculus so they're already taking college-level courses in high school so that when it comes time to apply to colleges they've already taken these courses and they're one step ahead of their peers," said West Valley Math Teacher Matthew Hansen.

West Valley administrators say they expect about 60 students to meet the standard this year. Up from about 40 last year.
