Firefighters Say Brushfire Now 100% Contained
By Peter BukowskiWEST VALLEY -- West Valley tells KIMA the Cowiche Mills fire is all but out. After burning for thee days, it's now 100% contained, but that doesn't mean every fire has been put out. West Valley Fire Cheif Dave Leitch explained there could still be little fires that flare up, but they will be well inside the containment area. Ash and embers could remain for weeks until rain or wind. In all, the fire burned more than six-thousand acres, destroying an empty home, some sheds, and a fire truck. The cost of fighting the fire is estimated at $800,000. Thankfully, no one was killed. |
