New Ike School Plans Ready For Viewing
By Jackie WatanabeYakima -- The new Ike High School is ready to go. Well, at least the architect's conception of the new school. After months of planning, the Yakima School District is showing off what will be a brand new school. That large glassed-in area is a massive common area for students. The new Ike should mean no portables, and it could hold another 500 additional students using a number of new features. Mary Beth Wright of the Yakima School District says this project is something to be excited about. "Possibly an 800 seat theater that our community can use. The students will see that. They'll see a gymnasium that we can have the entire student body in without being scrunched. They'll see larger classrooms." You can look at floor plans and drawings of the school tonight at the Central Services building on Fourth. If you can't get there tonight, click here to look at the drawings. A move-in date is set for the summer of 2013. |
