SWAT Team Surrounds Homicide Suspect

YAKIMA -- Following an afternoon standoff, Police arrested a suspect in this weekend's homicide. The standoff happened late Tuesday afternoon in the neighborhood around 6th Ave. and Logan.
Yakima's SWAT team along with dozens of officers surrounded a home there. Streets on the southside were blocked off. Police believed a man blamed for this weekend's murder was hiding inside.
After about two hours of negotiations, the 24-year old surrendered. The standoff ended just after 4 pm.
Police say David Duarte was accidentally killed on Saturday night when a gang-member was shooting at his nephew. Duarte was riding in a car along 16th Avenue and Spokane when he was shot.
