City Manager Comments on Chief Sam Granato

YAKIMA -- Chief Sam Granato remains silent on his disputed police crime analyst position, but today, Action News spoke with City Manager Dick Zais about the council investigation and the chief's unwillingness to answer our questions.

"I think he declined to comment as did Mr. Lover because they didn't want to get back into this tete a tete in any way between them on what was an uncomfortable situation," says Zais. "He felt he defended it. The council and Mr. Lover agreed that it had been properly justified and it's been allowed to remain instated in the city budget."

Action News did acquire a copy of the memo Chief Granato gave to the council defending the crime analyst position.
