Going After Federal Funds

Washington State Department of Transportation hopes the $13 million price tag will be covered 100% by the Feds.
"The emergency contract that we executed and completed typically that is covered under a declaration of emergency. Then there's ongoing emergency funds that we can apply for over the next 180 days," says Don Whitehouse, WSDOT.
WSDOT officials say they and Yakima County are covering the costs right now. Typically with a disaster like this they have been reimbursed.
