Start your engines...That's not quite how today's Pinewood Derby Championship started, but there was a lot of spirit and excitement. About fifty Cub Scouts competed in the championship races.

Scouts and their families came from as far as Ellensburg and Cle Elum. Each boy won his pack's race and competed today against scouts from around the Valley.

KIMA's own Valerie Hurst was the emcee for the event. We talked to the winner of the Tiger scout race.

"We were racing cars and I got first place for my Tiger Pack and my Poppa had to put on extra weight cuz it was too light," said 8-year old Hunter Delozier.

Scouts, with help from their parents crafted the cars from a solid block of pinewood.
