More Baseball Fields Coming To Kiwanis Park

YAKIMA -- One of the city's most popular parks is expanding.

This dirt patch next to the new skate park in Kiwanis Park is going to have baseball fields and a volleyball and basketball court. The new construction means Kiwanis Park might have to say goodbye to its pond.

"Whether that goes or stays determines how many ball fields you're going to have and the configuration," says Jeff Peters, City of Yakima, Planning.

The new development is possible, thanks to a $500,000 grant from the state. Construction should start by March.
