Huge Donation at Salvation Army
By Ryan Simms
YAKIMA -- Christmas came early for Yakima's Salvation Army in the form of a very generous final will and testament.
When it comes to doing good, Robert and Claudette Edwards are shining examples of generosity. "They liked what they saw at the Salvation Army, and they began thinking about the needs of the Salvation Army," says Tom Morrow. Those needs lead to a donation worth half a million dollars to the Salvation Army's Food Bank, with every cent of that money coming from the Edward's living will. "They were unassuming, down-to-earth people," says Eric Gustafson, who was the Edward's personal lawyer. Eight years after finalizing their will, the Salvation Army is about to reap the rewards of the Edward's kindness. It couldn't come at a better time. At the Salvation Army, many pantries are currently empty. With the endowment, however, shelves will soon be filled with food. "It creates a steady income, and it will be helpful in the operation of our food bank," Morrow tells Action News. |
