UNION GAP -- Union Gap City Council will decide the fate of its community service officer. He could lose his job or be cut back to part time.

Officer, Jason Hatfield works as a bailiff, transports prisoners to the local jails, and is the city's code enforcer. He's worried about who will pick up the slack, if he's cut.

" There's no way that I would even be able to remotely conduct the other functions to assist the officers. Who's going to cover the courtroom? So we've to to pay detectives or individuals, take them off the street to do my transporting duties in the mornings," said Hatfield.

The council will vote on final layoffs Monday. Four other jobs will also be cut. We'll have the latest on action news at eleven.
