Body Found In Field Being Treated Like A Homicide
By Sade Malloy
NEAR HARRAH-- Shot in the chest and left in a hop field. Salvador Lopez was found at the base of a hop anchor near Harrah Wednesday morning. The death is being treated as a homicide.
"You find an unattended body that's suspicious so we treat it as such," says Lt. Max James, Yakima Sheriff's Office. Yakima Sheriff Deputies say 20-year-old Salvador Lopez Lopez has been deserted in this field for up to three days. A hop worker found the body while working the area. "We've rolled the body there's no identification so we don't know who the person is at this point but there's one gun shot wound to the chest." It was the victim's blue Honda left next to the body that gave deputies a positive I.D. This past Sunday, the Wapato Police Department was asked to do a welfare check on Lopez. A group of people he was living with called the police, worried about his safety. Wapato P.D. spent all night Sunday looking for Lopez but didn't find him. If this case does turn into a homicide Yakima County Coroner Jack Hawkins tells Action News it'll be the county's 11th so far this year. |
