Businesses Get Creative At Biz Expo
By Stacy LilienthalFrom massages to prizes, many Yakima businesses found ways to vie for people's attention. Jim Engebretson say it works: "There could always be something new, you just never know until you come and take a look." Some business owners even came in costume. "It's a Blast" owner Ron Reaves says it was an easy decision for employees to dress like Batman and Spider-man. "When we go to kids parties we're in costumes so what better way to advertise it than be in costume?" said Reaves. Other businesses let people taste-test what they had to offer with appetizers and in one case, free beer. "It could get them introduced to the brand," says Yakima Craft Brewing Company owner Jeff Winn, "and that's basically the goal." "That's what it's all about; helping your business grow," said event organizer Craig Terry. He continues "And the way to do that is to network with each other and to get the public involved." Attendee Cindy Beaulaurier thinks they do a good job: "You're in one place and one location and you can ask several questions." It's all part of the extra effort to showcase their work and get more people in their doors. |
