40th Avenue panhandler given one final warning

40th Avenue panhandler given one final warning
YAKIMA, Wash. -- Yakima is taking action against a panhandler setting up camp on city property. Authorities forced him from their property.

The man on 40th and Powerhouse was given notice to remove his things. When he didn't, the city did it for him.

Yakima's refuse department threw his stuff into several trash bins. While he is breaking the law, some say he shouldn't be kicked off the property.

"This man isn't hurting anyone," said Deanna Pemberton. "My neighbors are very upset because code enforcement and this city should be addressing serious problems."

Yakima says it responds to complaints, and the panhandler was breaking city code. Police tell us he will be arrested if spotted in the area again.
