Yakima -- A West Valley High School student is headed to Washington D.C. for the presidential inauguration.

Dessie Larson will be spending a week in D.C. at the Presidential Youth Inaugural Conference. Larson was nominated last year to attend the National Youth Leadership forum because she kept her grades up and community service projects she's been asked back.

"Definitely taking lots of pictures and maybe get to see [Barack Obama]and we'll see if we can get an autograph or something. Hopefully I'll come back and know more about politics and maybe take that on as a future career," says Dessie Larson, attending presidential inauguration.

Besides attending the inauguration Larson will also hear speeches from Al Gore and Colin Powell.
