Dispute Coming To An End?
By Sade Malloy
Selah -- A South Selah neighborhood has been battling it out with city officials for years going back and forth on whether to build a 24-unit apartment complex in a residential neighborhood.
The project has been through numerous environmental reviews, public hearings and appeals on Friday, the homeowners who don't want the apartments, say a judge ruled in their favor, that the description of the project doesn't fit the Selah residential code. Bruce Williams, S. Selah Neighborhood Association says, "We all cheered that this would happen because the process has gone on for a long period of time, four years, it was good to see that the superior court agreed that our requests and appeals were substantial and there was something to them." Action News did talk to Selah Mayor Bob Jones and he says he doesn't think the developer will tear the complex down, but probably just make adjustments to what's already built. |
